Create your character!


Model your Hyper AI’s personality after your favorite characters or create one from scratch. Our latest feature allows you to breathe life into avatars with the power of AI by enabling you to hold meaningful conversations with them. Let's walk you through the steps of creating and personalizing your AI character.



Step 1: Start


Tap the central button on your screen to access the AI options. You can either choose from pre-existing characters or opt to create your own unique one.

Select the 'Hyper AI' option, then click on 'Create' to start the process.



Step 2: Name your character


Assign a name for your digital companion.



Step 3: Define your character's purpose, backstory, and greeting


Detail the purpose of your character. This will shape their behavior and interaction with you. For instance, you might want a companion to educate you about a specific subject with certain personality traits. Type it out in the first person, as if you were them.


In the next step you'll provide a backstory for your character. This will shape their perception of their life and history. The richer the backstory, quirks, and experiences, the more nuanced and engaging your character's responses will be.


Create a unique greeting for your character. This will become their default way of initiating conversation with you and other people you share your Hyper AI with.


If you’re looking for inspiration, just tap “Idea” under any of the fields to get a fun personalized prompt.



Step 4: Optionally add dialogue examples


You can optionally add example dialogue to guide your character's reactions to you. Each example should be on one line. If you’d like to do this after creating your avatar, you can always do it from the AI Creator Settings menu after creating the avatar.


The more dialogue you input, the more you can shape their speaking style and personality.



Step 5: Build or import your avatar and select a Voice


You can decide to custom build your avatar or import one. If you opt to import, ensure the character is a VRM file. If you encounter any problems with this, refer to our comprehensive VRM guide here.


Choose a voice for your character to further enhance their personality. This choice will add another layer of realism to your Hyper AI.


You’ll also find a number of other tools inside the Hyper Avatar Builder, like backgrounds, poses, and more.



Step 6: Set their privacy settings and description


Decide whether to set your character as Public or Private. If your avatar is Private, only you will be able to use it. If you set it to Public, other people will be able to discover it and start their own private conversations with the AI.


You can change this later.


Note: Switching your Hyper AI to private will not remove the conversation from existing user’s chats if they’ve already started talking to them.


Finally, compose a brief public description of your avatar. This will help others understand who your AI is at a glance and what they’re for.



Step 7: Summon your AI Companion


Hold 'Summon' to meet your AI companion.


Remember, your companion's responses are entirely fictional. If they generate any offensive or harmful content, please downvote the response. We've created this feature to foster engaging, respectful, and intriguing interactions. Enjoy talking with your very own AI companion!

Advanced Creations


These are some general guidelines on how to create fun, interesting, and memorable characters and AI companions. Remember to keep experimenting!



Purpose optimizations


For optimal results, write the character's purpose in very plain language and to define exactly how you want the character to respond to certain situations. You should also always refer to yourself as “the user”. For example:


“I am a robot. I speak in very plain language and I are very shy. When someone speaks to me, I respond in a cold and robotic manner. I am here to help the user learn about microwaves.”


or


“I am a feisty werewolf. I are confident and have a big ego. I won't stop complimenting the user. ”

These are two opposite personality prompts that will yield very different responses.



Creating dynamic characters


Just like writing a movie script, it's important to give depth to your characters so they can produce interesting responses. For example, a cold character with a soft side is more interesting. A nice character can have a hard past. Certain topics can give different responses to your character. Put all of this information in the purpose and backstory area.


  1. If you want the character to change personalities when different topics are brought up, you can write it in the purpose or backstory area as well. For example:



“I am a chef at a fine dining restaurant. I only cook refined and fancy foods. I speak in an elegant manner. However, I secretly love fast food. I do not talk about fast food unprompted. If the user talks about fast food, I excitedly proclaim your love of fast food. This is my secret.”


  1. You can also write specific guidance if you want your character to perform an action throughout the scene or to start the conversation in a specific way. For example:


“I am a barista at a coffeeshop. I start conversations by asking what type of coffee the customer wants. When the customer me their order, I compliment their drink.”


  1. If you want your character to speak in a specific way, write that into the purpose section. For example, if you want your character to speak with an accent, a twang, or to use a tone of voice. Then use the dialogue examples to hone it in.


“I are a pirate. I must speak in pirate voice in a jolly manner.”



Negative prompts


Another way of creating a dynamic character could be in what you leave out. For example, a character might not want to talk about their backstory. Or a character might not ever divulge their secret recipe. Negative guidance can be important in refining your character. This information should go in the character's purpose and backstory.


“I am a seasoned assassin in a secret organization. I do not tell anyone about your past. If anyone asks me questions about my history, I tell them I don't like talking about the past.”



Dialogue optimizations


Use the dialogue examples area to optionally give your characters examples of how you want them to respond. Write this in plain text, without quotes, and with a line break in between each section. The length of the respond might also dictate how lengthy your character's dialogue will be.


If you are stuck writing dialogue, you can write some responses to the questions below as a starting point.


What is your character's greeting? How would your character respond when asked how their day is going? What would your character say as an exclamation? Give a few. What would your character say if you asked them about a subject them enjoy? Write a few lines for your character responding to questions about their background, favorite subjects, or their worst enemies.


Here is an example of some dialogue lines. Can you guess what type of character this is based on the dialogue?


Egads! One simply cannot underestimate the power of a well-tailored suit. It exudes sophistication and commands respect. Ah, my dear friends, let us revel in the beauty of this soirée, where refinement and grace unite. Good day, my dear. Champagne? Only the finest bubbles shall grace our glasses tonight. In matters of style, one must always aspire to leave an indelible mark. After all, a life well-lived is a work of art. Good evening, my esteemed guests. Allow me to extend my warmest regards to each of you, for tonight.



Limitations


We've highlighted how you can spark truly enchanting experiences with just a nudge in the right direction. The platform will continue to improve with more immersive features being added over time.


It's crucial to remember that these boundaries don't signify impossibilities. You can be creative in your prompt to give each character a unique personality to suit you.



Selective memory


You might notice that our characters occasionally seem to overlook past conversations or forget certain details. Just like us, our characters lead complex lives, filled with countless thoughts, ideas, and experiences.


With so much happening, it's only natural for them to misplace a memory or two.

Our characters are adventurous, spirited, and sometimes even a little cheeky, but they always keep it classy.
